Week 1 Simplify Your Life Week

Writer's picture: JLJL

Week 1 of August is "Simplify Your Life Week"

I know that sometimes life can become a bit hectic, challenging or overwhelming even if you are an organized person. You can get off track and lose focus unintentionally. You may not even realize it until its too late

Here are few ways to get back on track and simplify your life.

  • Plan your week on Sunday and make sure you have allotted time for self care.

  • I usually take at least 30 minutes (more if I need it) per day to do something that is "ME" focused. Sometimes I will read a book, write some poetry, listen to some music, play with my dogs, go shopping for pleasure, go for a walk at the park or talk/encourage to a friend.

  • Use your phone calendar to get notifications of appointments or to complete daily/weekly tasks

  • I have certain days blocked off dedicated to just for clients/customers. Other days are dedicated to my students. I have found that mixing days help me focus more.

  • If you are in school, commit to reading/working on assignments a few times per week and not just the night before its due. :)

  • Get a planner and USE IT!

  • I have a gratitude calendar. I use it to set goals and then the goals are set into mini tasks so I can make sure I complete them.

  • Organize/De-clutter your work space.

  • Throw away items that are not needed or are not being used. Buy some folders or baskets to help.

  • Organize/ De-clutter your email.

  • Did you know that Gmail has a new feature that will allow you to pause your email so that you can complete tasks without interruptions?

  • I would also encourage you to cancel/unsubscribe any subscriptions that are taking up space.

  • Go for a walk/ exercise.

  • Sometimes being away from the desk or the TV can give your mind a reboot. You are able to think more clearly and come back more focused and energized.

  • Get rid of negativity

  • This includes negative people (family and friends) AND negative thoughts.

  • Remember Positivity is a choice!

These are just a few ways that I have simplified my life in the year 2018. So far it has been great and I am happy with the results.

Please feel free to share this post with others - ask them to sign up for my blog too.
